Saturday the 29th of March, philanthropist and former businessman Andrej Kiska beat the incumbent Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, in the second round of Slovakia’s presidential elections. Targeting mostly right-wing voters, Kiska secured almost 60 pct. of the votes against Fico’s 40 pct.
The presidency in Slovakia is mostly a ceremonial position but some powers follows with it. Especially, the President chooses who to take on important high-ranking official positions.
