Biography:

Reuf Bajrović is the Senior Policy Advisor at GMI Counsel-a government affairs firm in Washington, DC, Vice President of US-Europe Alliance in Washington, DC and a Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI). He previously served as Minister of Energy in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina government. Also, he founded and served as president of the Washington-based civic advocacy group, the Emerging Democracies Institute. He was the founder of the Civic Alliance party in Bosnia Herzegovina. In 2007, Reuf founded and managed one of the first strategic communication consulting companies in Bosnia and Herzegovina and served as one of key architects of the Social Democratic Party’s historic 2010 victory.

He holds an MA in Democracy and Human Rights and an MA in Governance and Policy of European Integration, both from University of Bologna. He holds a BA in political science from University of Louisville.

For the past 25 years, Reuf has been providing advisory and technical assistance services in areas of policy research and analysis, civil society and political party capacity building, and program development and evaluation. Clients included USAID, UNDP, UK Department for International Development (DFID), German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), the Rockefeller Brothers Fund (RBF), International Republican Institute, National Democratic Institute, and Heinrich Boell Stiftung, among others.

Mr. Bajrovic’s op-eds and feature articles have appeared in Die Zeit, The American Interest, Just Security, The National Interest, Haaretz, Tampa Bay Times, El Pais, and other online and print media in the U.S., Europe, and the Middle East. He is a frequent commentator for major international media, including The New York Times, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, TIME Magazine, Newsweek, PBS Newshour, and Al Jazeera English, among others. His academic and policy research was published by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Foreign Policy Research Institute (FPRI), Open Society Institute, Center for Policy and Governance (CPU), and Heinrich Boll Stiftung. He gave lectures at the Foreign Service Institute at the U.S. Department of State, as well as at Columbia, New York, American and other universities.

Reuf has worked with an independent team of experts to research and analyze Russia’s illiberal authoritarian influence in the Western Balkans, and raise awareness about the tactics, techniques, and trends of malign foreign interference used to weaken democratic governance and security structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia.
